In addition to the release date and trailer, Cameron also revealed some interesting facts about The Way of Water, his upcoming movie based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. The Way of Water trailer
The eagerly awaited Avatar release date has been announced for December 18, 2020. The official Avatar trailer will debut during the Super Bowl LIII at 3:00 pm EST on February 3rd. In celebration of the release of The Way of Water, Cameron has released a new short film entitled “Rebirth.” The film is set in the world of Pandora and follows a young water bender as she begins her training to become a master waterbender.
Meanwhile, director James Cameron continues to tease new information about the upcoming sequel to Avatar. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly he dropped a few hints about what fans can expect in The Way of Water:
“We want it to feel like they’ve been away for four years instead of two because they have,” he says. “It feels like it was four years since they were last on Pandora. So there are references to things that have happened over those four years and we also introduce some new characters who play into this story…. We want it to be more than just retreading old ground.”
Cameron also teased that there might be a reference or cameo from Neytiri ( Zoe Saldana ) in the sequel. “We may or may not see Neytiri again in the sequel if we do it, but she would make an appearance if we did,” said Cameron.
